Sarah Hancocks,

Cygnet Law is strengthening its capacity to provide legal services in the important areas of Mental Health, Community Care and Housing Law.

As part of a constant process of evolution and expansion Cygnet has appointed an industry expert, Sarah Hancocks, as an Associate Solicitor and Head of Department.

Sarah is an Accredited member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Panel and joins the Practice with an established reputation throughout the area for achieving excellent outcomes for those she represents.

Sarah’s appointment comes as the company changes its name from Cygnet Family Law to Cygnet Law to reflect the expansion in the breadth of services now available to clients including property, Community Care advice and mental health.

Among the legal areas Sarah will manage are Community Treatment Orders and Guardianships, Mental Health Review Tribunals, Hospital managers’ meetings and advice and representation at Court in relation to nearest relative provision, resolving disputes over treatment, advice relating to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and representation in Court of Protection Proceedings.

Peter Medd, Managing Director of Cygnet Law, said: “This is a significant appointment that will further bolster and expand our service offering.

“Sarah’s vast experience and commitment to her work makes her a valuable new asset to the Cygnet Law team and our clients.”

Sarah said: “Joining Cygnet Law offers me an opportunity to join a growing law practice with a reach across a large swathe of the North East and I am looking forward to being part of a forward-thinking firm.”
