Celebrating Our Community Work On International Day Of Charity Blog Header

Here at Cygnet, giving back to the community is a core part of who we are, and on International Day of Charity, we take a moment to celebrate the causes, organisations, and community initiatives that make a real difference — and that we’re proud to be part of.

Supporting Local Charities and Organisations

Over the years, we’ve supported a wide range of organisations with unique and important missions. From volunteering and contributing to initiatives with The Junction Foundation and MFC Foundation to supporting Power of Women, ASSIST, My Sisters Place, AGE UK Teesside, and Dementia Action Teesside, our chosen charity of the year — we aim to make a difference through hands-on support, fundraising, and advocacy.

We also support local sports clubs and teams. Sponsoring and supporting initiatives such as Marske FC, Redcar Athletic and Saltburn Golf Club allows us to stay connected with the community and help causes we believe in flourish. For us, being part of the local community is about showing up, supporting causes we care about, and making a positive impact in ways that go beyond words.

Why Giving Back Matters

Charity and community support are central to who we are as a firm. Whether it’s volunteering, fundraising, sponsorship, or offering pro bono legal advice and free drop-in sessions, our team strives to help where it’s needed most. International Day of Charity is a great reminder of the difference we can make — whether through time, expertise, or simply being there for those who need us.

Recognition for Our Commitment

We have been nominated for the North East Charity Awards in the Corporate Partner category. This is a real honour, and it recognises the ongoing commitment our team has in supporting the community. For us, it’s not about accolades — and whatever the outcome on the evening, it’s about celebrating the importance of giving back, teamwork, and making a tangible difference to the causes and people around us.

Upcoming Events

Over the coming weeks, our team will be taking part in a series of events to raise awareness and funds for our partners:

  • 7th September – Great North Run: Running to support multiple local causes, including AGE UK Teesside.
  • 14th September – Alan Peacock Walk: Joining MFC Foundation and Dementia Action Teesside in a community walk in memory of Alan Peacock and others we’ve lost to dementia / those currently living with dementia.
  • 21st September – Redcar Running Festival: Several of our team will take on the 10K and half marathon raising money for Dementia Action Teesside.
  • 1st October – Power of Women at Bloom, Middlesbrough: Supporting the organisation to raise voices and empower the community.
  • Throughout October – Age UK Teesside Will Month: We’ve partnered with Age UK Teesside to offer our will-writing services for a donation of £95 for a single will or £120 for a couple.
