Gemma Brooke

Job Role at Cygnet Law

Gemma Brooke officially joined the Cygnet Law team in 2012. She began her tenure as a solicitor at the firm before being promoted to the Head of Private Client department. She is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Conveyancing department. Due to all of her hard work and passion for the profession, Gemma was appointed Director in 2018.

Gemma is a friendly and dedicated individual who supervises and supports the junior members of the team. Her role within the firm is to assist clients with will drafting, powers of attorney, applying for probate and letters of administration, dealing with estate management, and assisting with trusts.

Gemma is incredibly passionate and caring, so much so that she works closely with various charities within the local area. She is a trustee for EVA Women's Aid and has been since 2014. Previously, she was the Chair of the board for three years.

Similarly, Gemma has recently been appointed the role of trustee for Dementia Action Teesside, a cause that she cares for deeply.

Awards & Qualifications

Gemma pursued her Bachelor of Law degree at Teesside University. Following three years of studying and hard work, she graduated with an Upper Second Class degree in 2006. Three years later, in 2009, Gemma officially qualified as a solicitor.

Gemma is a member of the Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS); this is part of the Law Society's quality standard for wills, probate, and estate administration practices.

Gemma's Interests

When she isn't hard at work in the office, Gemma likes to spend her time swimming in the sea - especially when it's cold!

Gemma loves to go on holiday whenever she can, especially for a European city break; she likes to take in all the sites and culture. She also makes it a priority to spend as much quality time as possible with all of her family and friends. When buying her a gift, it is no secret that you can't go wrong with a Lego set or two. She's unashamedly a Lego lover, and in her words, "You are never too old for Lego!".

Gemma's passion for helping people diagnosed with dementia and their families comes from her own personal experience after her father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Ever since, the cause has been close to her heart, and this dedication and knowledge continues to assist her with the life-changing work she does for her clients.
