A Teesside-based law firm has boosted its headcount following record growth in the second half of its financial year.

Cygnet Law, which was established more than 20 years ago, has seen a 25 per cent uptick in turnover and doubled its family department.

In line with its expansion, the Redcar-based firm has promoted public law department solicitor Eleanor Barber to director.

Elsewhere, chartered legal executive Melanie Wood has joined the business to drive growth in the areas of divorce and finance, while solicitor Emily Baker Harrington will take the lead on private children matters.

The department will be assisted by Joanne McKay, trainee legal executive, Zakia Hussain, trainee solicitor, and paralegals James Jeffels and Robyn Barnett.

Two trainees have also been awarded permanent roles at the firm as part of its graduate recruitment programme, in partnership with Bede Sixth Form College.

Stacey Phoenix, director and solicitor at Cygnet Law, said: “This has been an exciting year for Cygnet Law as we continue to expand the business. The growth we are seeing is undoubtedly down to the hard work and commitment of the talented team, as they go above and beyond for our clients every day.

“We have ambitious plans for 2023, and hope to continue on this strong growth trajectory, supported by our newly restructured department and ongoing recruitment drive across the region.”
